The winners have been given the choice of having a “Red Carpet” event either at their school or at the Authority’s Recycling Center, where they will walk the red carpet, show their video and describe how they made it. In addition, winners are going to be awarded with an Amazon gift card.
The Trash Can Film Festival was created to give students in Oneida and Herkimer Counties a creative way to tell everyone in their own words how important recycling is. The submissions that the Authority received ranged from a stop-motion film taking place in a medieval castle to a documentary style film urging viewers to rethink their choices!
“There are so many additional ways to get students engaged in recycling that go beyond presentations, assemblies or visits of the Authority’s Recycling Center,” says Authority Recycling Coordinator Eileen Brinck. “Adding in a creative opportunity like the Trash Can Film Festival really helps leave a lasting impact that will forever leave students thinking about recycling,” she continued.
The Authority would like to thank and congratulate all those who participated in the Trash Can Film Festival. The winners have been announced on the Authority’s Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn pages, and their videos are available for viewing at www.trashcanfilmfestival.com.
