The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority’s (Authority’s) fall challenges have started! This year, the Authority will be bringing back the Trash Can Film Festival and will be holding its 5th Annual Green Halloween Costume Contest.
Trash Can Film Festival
Create a 60-second video showing why you think recycling is so important! This can be an individual or group effort - with the winner(s) in each category receiving a $250 Amazon Gift Card! Prizes will also be awarded to second and third place entries. Categories are based on the following grade levels: Elementary (K-6), Jr. High (7-9), and High School (10-12). Winners will also be awarded a "red carpet" experience where they can show their video off to friends and family. Videos must be submitted by November 6th for judging. 5th Annual Green Halloween Costume Contest
For the 5th year in a row, we want to see your best "Green" Halloween costume! DIY a costume from recycled and/or reused materials and send us photos of it for judging by Thursday, November 2nd. Authority staff will review everyone's submissions and vote for the winners - 1st place wins a $200 Amazon Gift Card, 2nd place wins a $100 Amazon Gift Card and 3rd place wins an Authority swag bag! Costumes will be judged based on DIY skill and the materials used to make them. This challenge is open to school age residents of Oneida and Herkimer Counties.
